Blogs Top the List in “Newer Media” Tactics that Marketers Plan to Use
I just finished reading a great article in BtoB magazine, “Social media use soars among b-to-b marketers.” The article goes into some detail about a study that shows a lot of growth in using social media and “newer media” as marketing tactics. One key point that I latched onto is:
“Asked what “newer media” tactic they are not currently using but plan to use within the next year, both b-to-b and b-to-c marketers responded that blogs topped the list.”
Blogs! And here I thought blogs were pretty much mainstream by now. There are at least five blogs that I visit on a regular basis. But as I thought about this further I realized that the blogs I visit are written by individuals, they aren’t company blogs.
So why aren’t companies blogging already? Do they not see the benefit? Concerned about who the blogger will be? Not sure if they will see results?
What’s important is to take a step back and determine if and how blogging will work for the company and fit into the overall marketing plan. After all, blogging is one tactic that should fit into your overall marketing plan. So take a step back and look at your marketing plan. What are your goals? Objectives?
Are you trying to engage your customers on a different level? Are you hoping to become a source of information to your customers? If you are, then blogging might be a great marketing tactic for you. So, check out your options and consider chatting with someone that can help your company get started in the world of blogging.
And once your blog is up and running, just relax and have fun!
